The dromos was the Byzantine department responsible for the road system and the postal service. In addition, it served as the foreign affairs office of the empire. As chartoularios, Gregorios was a high-ranking bureaucrat in the provincial administration of the 'dromoi' of the Anatolikon and Thrakesion themes.
